IPL Hair Reduction
IPL or Intense Pulsed Light Permanent hair Reduction has become extremely popular recently as it brings freedom from 6 weekly waxing and shaving forever! Treatment is proven to permanently reduce the number of hairs re growing after each treatment. It is suitable for most hair types on most areas of the body.
How does it work?
Highly controlled flashes of light are selectively absorbed by the hair follicle turning the light into heat which destroys the blood supply to the area and preventing the hair from re-growing.
We can only ever treat hairs in the growing phase as it’s attached to the base/ blood vessels. As not all hairs are in their growing phase its important to see you on several occasions at suitable intervals. Its important that you still come for treatments even if hairs not appearing as they may be in the anagen growing phase.
What will it feel like?
This treatment has been described as similar to be flicked with a rubber band. You will feel a short heated pricking sensation. This feeling disappears very quickly. Afterwards you may find the area feels warm or a little tingly, similar to a light sunburn feeling. Your therapist will cool the treated area immediately afterwards with cool compresses.
Does IPL hair removal work for everyone?
We have already seen fabulous results from our IPL machine, but everyone is different. IPL cannot treat medical conditions / hormonal changes that cause hair to grow but it can greatly improve the symptoms. Your therapist will discuss this with you at the time of your consultation.
What results can be expected?
Results you should expect after a course of IPL - Hair will become reduced in the treated areas
