Microdermabrasion is a procedure of choice for facial rejuvenation and is very popular amongst skin aestheticians
Not all Microdermabrasion are the same!
FOUR actions are needed for an effective rejuvenation treatment
Loosening the dead skin cells - with a chemical AHA gentle glycolic wash breaks down the glue that holds the dead skin cells together
Polishing action of the crystals remove the rough top layers of skin leaving younger and smoother cells.
Vacuuming action removes oils and blocked pores leaving clearer less congested skin and brings increase blood flow and nourishment to the skin.
Post Micro repair The skin is effectively damaged and if not treated properly post micro, the benefits will be lost. The skin therefore requires plenty of extra nourishment to complete this repair process. Also as the lipid barrier is broken it is imperative that the skin is dressed and protected with lipids.
Microdermabrasion works best when performed as a series of 6 treatments - every 7 to 14 days. Noticeable changes can be seen after the first treatment - usually smoother, healthier looking skin. After a series of treatments oiliness is decreased, dilated pores are less pronounced, and areas of thick skin are thinner. Fine wrinkles sometimes appear smoother.
Please note that in order to be affective, the skin needs to be stimulated and tingling redness is a normal response. (in fact if you don’t get this its not been effective) The skin may also be dry and flakey for 4-7 days afterwards due to cellular renewal and natural desquamation of the dead skin.
